S o, you just got your first prescription contact lenses and now you know how expensive they can be. Unfortunately, even the best vision insurance doesn’t completely cover you on contact lens purchases, especially if you are buying them directly from an optician store. When I picked up my first six-month’s supply of disposable lenses last week, I found out that I had used up my allowable insurance for the year. Luckily, a friend let me in on a little secret.

I learned that most contact lens wearers don’t buy their lenses from the optometrist or optician; they buy them at a warehouse club, like Costco or BJ’s. With well known brands, like Durasoft and Acuvue 2 contacts, their prices are dramatically less than what I would have paid at the optician’s shop. First of all, when you are buying brand name contact lenses you won’t have to worry about the quality of the lenses being different just because they are less expensive. You will find that as long as you purchase the same brand that you already have, such as Acuvue 2 contacts or Bausch & Lomb, you will be getting the exact same level of quality. This is true with contacts that are purchased online, as well. Just make sure that the original factory seal is still on the box, and you can be assured that they are the real thing.

And finally, don’t let the salesperson at your Denver optician’s store lead you to believe that there is any insurance benefit from buying your lenses there. As long as your plan will accept a mail-in claim form, you can buy your contact lenses anywhere and still be reimbursed. When you go to buy replacement lenses, remember to check for available rebates and online coupons, as well.

For one, You couldn’t describe me as exactly comfortable as an “independent” (aka: naturally single) person and not be lying. But, I’m not uncomfortable with the reality of life, either. I merely suggest it on the blogosphere as an appetizing little tidbit setting up the story I am prepared to explain in grand style.

Last Monday I was talking to Stacey, thinking of joining Dallas Personals site. Now, I write to you as a delightfully single member of the matchmaking service. Totally, and I almost don’t believe it myself! It’s full of fun, attractive people! If you’ve been paying attention, perhaps you’re thinkin’, “Stop blabbering and tell me about it already.”

Well, I looked at this Great Expectations Dating site and felt encouraged. They’re for the serious singles who know dating should mean something.

‘Cause I’d never been interested in what a lot of singles have named “The Dating Experience.” I heard it all the time. Each night readers pester, “Are you two serious yet?” and “Oh I know just the guy for you!”

“That’s rubbish,” I reply, smiling ear to ear. “Have you seen what’s out there?”

“Not true,” they level with me. “That’s just an excuse for your cynicism.”

Thankfully, that’s my partner in crime (on a good day) (hehe) Sandy McCarthy. She pours common sense to my brain 99% of the time. Caring souls never fail . Can’t argue with that, and I thank her for it.

Back to the point of this essay. As I browsed from more than three hundred combinations of outfits for my first singles event with Great Expectations, something occurred to me that was quite real. For years, I hadn’t held the greatest of figurative great expectations for dating and myself in the serendipitous path of this world. It’s good to be single, even more so if you use the freedom to date. Holding great expectations works terrifically for those who believe.

The downturn is a direct impact of the public losing their jobs and the television stations utilising the situation. My Shiny New Home Alarm Systems

I have been browsing for a home security systems for a long time now and I finally found one that seems to fit my pad, my family and our lifestyle.

We explored several different alarm companies to find the least expensive alternative as opposed to the most big-ticket pick. I must say, that I was very happy with most of the websites we faced at but one stood out to us and that was FamilyHomeSecurity.com. Their monitoring info was special, eye opening and enlightening. I wish they were a company that put in security systems themselves because I know it would be done meticulously and with a great deal of attention to cleanliness.

What made it a strong experience? Well, we experienced a housebreakings 4 months ago that wasn’t very fun. Fortunately, we were outside of town and they only removed jewelry and cash. Now there are small fry in the household and a lot more valuable stuff like computing devices, electronics, and above all - family and family memories and pic. We simply sought to find the foremost home alarm system that we could all use and feel safe with. It was decidedly time to receive one this day.

So, how did we ensure the proper alarm system? We set about by searching ’security system’ on the search engines, then grazed nonstop thorough of the web sites on the starting page. A mass of them were junk…and I was sad about that. Everybody I acknowledge says Google is the nicest…in any case, subsequently searching all over those internet sites we couldn’t find what we were looking for. We don’t desire a difficult sales process and we didn’t want to think a good deal about it. Almost all of these web sites were bothersome sales pitches - I wanted info!

Playing Your Cardio Right

To many, that half-hour a day is the most enjoyable, most therapeutic part of your agenda. To others, it’s as dreadful as taking out the trash and doing the dishes. Yet, like your household chores, you know it’s something you simply must do.

Cardiovascular activity, referred to simply as “cardio,” should be as much a part of your body-sculpting endeavors as pulling and pushing those metal plates. As often as you’re pumping the iron, you should also be pumping your heart.

Unfortunately, Americans today are more glued to the screen, whether it be the television, Nintendo, or yes, even the Internet. It has been concluded that the majority of Americans have insufficient cardiovascular activity in their daily schedules, thus leading to a cartload of various health problems.

The 30 minutes per day that you should reserve for cardio work should always entail exercises that are enjoyable, manageable, and of course, safe.

So if you’re ready to get sweaty, here are a few wise choices:

RUNNING (Outdoors): Believe it or not, this exercise reminds me a lot of Howard Stern. Like the infamous DJ, you either love it or hate it. Beyond question, however, is the simple fact that running is a fantastic way to whip you into shape and provide full cardiovascular fitness. Running is a full-body exercise in which only you channel the motion, resistance, and weight distribution. There are no wheels or cycles doing any of the work for you.

Sometimes, running can actually be too rigorous an exercise and for bodybuilders it’s been known to foil some of that hard-earned muscle mass. Also, running can take a considerable toll on your joints, particularly your knees and ankles as well as your abused feet.

TREADMILL: This may seem like the equivalent to a run through the park or the neighborhood, and in a lot of ways, it is. Running is the same vigorous exercise whether done outdoors or in. Yet, the treadmill, because of its smooth rubbery conveyor belt is a lot more merciful on your joints. It doesn’t wear and tear your body the way running on the tarred street will. There is no pounding-like effect.

However, the treadmill does not offer the natural variations such as hills and curves which provides for a more rigorous workout on the streets. Also, the fresh air that can fill and expand your lungs is not a benefit from an indoor facility.

STAIRMASTER & STEPPERS: Some people refer to these devices simply as “sweat machines.” close by. Stairmasters, whether they’re the rotating kind or the step versions, are both excellent methods of losing weight and shedding body fat.

Yet, many fitness experts have concluded that stairs work may be insufficient in your quest to get in shape. For one, the exercise relies solely on lower body movement and tends to abandon the upper torso. Too often, people rest their arms on the bars at their sides, taking some of the resistance (your body weight) out of your legs.

STATIONARY BIKES: When you ride the stationary bike, it feels like you aren’t going anywhere. That’s because you’re not. But whether or not you’re making strides with your cardiovascular health is another matter. While these bikes are beneficial in raising the heart level, they also provide far less strain on the knees and back than other methods of cardio and are excellent for toning up the quadriceps.

The workout you’ll get from a stationary bike, however, is of the low-impact variety and like the scenery in front of you, it may feel like you’re not going anywhere, especially if you’ve set high fitness goals for yourself.

SWIMMING: Go on and make a splash. This is an excellent cardiovascular activity in that it is a total body exercise and hits the various muscles in the body. The water provides an excellent form of resistance that will get your heart pumping in no time. The benefits for the heart and lungs are endless.

As for the down side? There’s only one.

Not every fitness club has a swimming pool.

The Fitness Cardio Secret That Propels Lance Armstrong

What is Lance Armstrong doing that you can do to improve your results?

Most people exercise to lose weight, focusing solely on that one single goal. But
wait, it is not only about looking aesthetically pleasing, getting in those tight jeans,
or losing ten pounds. It is really about improving your health, and human
performance.

Each day when you are huffing and puffing on the treadmill, focusing vigorously
on keeping yourself lean, have you ever thought about what physically is
occurring in your body besides burning a bunch of calories?

For improved results, more people need to stop focusing solely on calorie burn,
and start thinking about improving such fitness values as VO2 Max, or maximum
oxygen uptake.

What exactly is your VO2 Max? VO2 Max is defined as the highest rate at which
oxygen can be taken in and used during high intensity dynamic exercise. When
you are exercising aerobically on your treadmill, each and every muscle
contraction requires oxygen to break down the fats, carbohydrates, and protein;
thus, providing energy (ATP) needed to fuel the muscles in order for movement to
occur.

Humans, at rest, need 3.5 ml of oxygen, every minute, for each kilogram of body
weight just to support the cellular activities in the tissues that keep us alive.

Now let’s get back to our treadmill. As you increase the speed or incline
(intensity), more oxygen is required to transfer the oxygen through the blood and
into the muscles. Due to increased intensity during your exercise session, more
oxygen is required to initiate the energy releasing process.

Now let’s take the treadmill up to a speed and incline where you can no longer
catch your breath comfortably. The intensity has increase significantly, but you
have reached an upper limit on the amount of oxygen you can take in. This is
your VO2 Max.

VO2 Max values differ from individual to individual. Factors such as age, health,
activity levels, training programs, and genetics all affect VO2 Max. A sedentary
person has a VO2 Max of around 20 ml of oxygen per kilogram of body weight per
minute of exercise. A highly trained endurance athlete can have a VO2 Max of
70 ml/kg/min.

Now why does Lance Armstrong win all those bike races? Yes, he has a great
training program, a great coach, and great equipment. However, his genetics for
an endurance athlete are nothing short of astounding. Do you know his VO2
Max measures around 83-85 ml/kg/min, while an average person’s is around 40?
For Lance, his success is attributed to a combination of great training, will,
desire, and unbelievable genetic makeup.

A Super Human Lance:

1. Lungs - 2 times the capacity of the average person

2. Muscle - Accumulates less lactic acid and is more efficient at

removing it.

3. Heart - Is about 1/3 larger with a resting heart rate of 32 beats per

minute, and peaks around 200 beats per minute.

4. Body Fat - 4-5 percent before the Tour starts, while an average

person has 15-20 percent.

5. Food Consumption - Needs 6500 calories per day, and upwards of

10,000 per day when biking in the mountains during his 120 mile race.

Truly amazing!

How do you improve VO2 Max? Improvement is seen by progressively
challenging yourself aerobically with consistent workouts at 60% to 85% of your
maximum heart rate (220-age) for an extended period of time. The most
important variable is to continue attempting to increase intensity levels of your
workouts. Progressively overloading is the key; your body will adapt, and improve
your VO2 Max as well as burn more calories for decreased body fat.

Now you ask, how can I measure my VO2 Max?

For the most accurate measurement, you can go into a hospital, or a University
Human Performance Lab and get the test. You will generally use a treadmill or a
stationary bike, and be given an oxygen mask to measure your oxygen exchange.
You will also be connected with chest electrodes to measure your heart response.
The main objective is to walk, bike, or run as the intensity is progressively
elevated until it is not possible to go any longer. (You should be cleared or
monitored by your physician before attempting a VO2 Max test.)

The easier. but not as accurate way, is to do an estimated sub maximal aerobic
capacity test.

The following is one of the many tests that can be used.

Find a 400 meter track, bring a stopwatch, and walk/run as fast as you can go for
12 minutes. Keep track of the number of meters you have gone in 12 minutes,
and use the following formula.

Distance Covered in Meters - 504.9 / 44.730 = Estimated VO2 Max

Here is a rough guide:

4-5 laps covered, your VO2 Max will be around 30.
5-7 laps covered, your VO2 Max will be around 45.
7-8 laps covered (2800 meters), your VO2 Max will be around 62.
8-8.5 laps covered (3200 meters), your VO2 Max will be around 67
9 laps covered (3600 meters), your VO2 Max will be around 70.

Learn to keep a close eye on your fitness values and try to continually improve
them. Improvement will lead to great health benefits, and may result in your
goal of decreased body fat (depending upon your nutritional habits.)

Lose Weight And Skyrocket Your Metabolism With Regular Cardiovascular Exercise

Do you try to eat well, even diet, but aren’t seeing the results you were hoping for? Are you just trying to gain more energy? Do you ever feel like you’re not breathing enough?

I know that it’s terribly hard to start walking or jogging when you have so much stress to deal with in your life.
