Manchester Police Ready to Set Up New Facility

The new Divisional Headquarters for Manchester Police will be set up in Goodman’s Central Park. The project was reported to have been completed for £35m and it is due to open in autumn 2011.

The agreement was signed a year ago when Manchester Police Authority decided to move to their new headquarters to the Park region. This new set up will be spread over 240,000 sq. ft.

Aedas is in charge of designing the set up. The offices will be contemporary, and attractive and warm to visitors. But while keeping all these factors in mind, the office will not lose the essence of being a Police Headquarter.

David Burkinshaw, the Director of the Ask Development firm stated that he is excited about the fact that the GMPA has closed the deal and has secured the building for the Headquarters. He said that this is a sign of the Park progressing.

The structure was created to offer modern amenities. The main features of the building include Photovoltaic Colts, Ground Source Heating and Cooling as well as rain water harvesting and heat and power.

James Raven, Director of Goodman’s UK Business Parks stated that this move has put the Park region on the map. The fact that the divisional headquarters and the force headquarters are both on the same property says a lot about the progress of the area. it is also an indication of the fact that these services need to move out of old facilities and move into modern shared office set ups like this.

James also mentioned that with the upcoming MetroLink and the activities in the area, Central Park will attract the attention of businesses.

A portion of this 15000 square feet area was tenanted by Ilva before the recession.

The management of TCS has expectations that the close of 2009 will see an increase in the portfolio of the company. This is based on statement issued by group management for the interim July to November period. This is good news for TCS as previous figures have shown negative figures.

The interim period sales of a studio and offices within their holdings boosted the fortunes of the company significantly. The £6.9m deal brought in about 9% into the company’s coffers to the company. Also, the top floors of the shared office block at 118 Deansgate were sold for £1.7m, with a profit of 7%. Staples UK and Cotswolds Outdoor still tenant the lower floors of this block. .

However, the company is not allowing the successes to go to its head. Company sources assure that as the market is quite volatile, it will be necessary to tread cautiously to maintain the current happy state of affairs. While there will be active effort to get new business spaces, retaining exiting customers and keeping the dues coming in consistently will require a lot of attention too. With new interest in office space being witnessed now, TCS hopes for continued improvement in performance.

Northern Irish Family to Build Liverpool’s Largest Office Complex

A Northern Irish, family owned, company have applied to Liverpool council to construct a new fifty million pound commercial centre in the city. The eighteen storey project will provide 225,000 square feet of desk space and will replace current office buildings at 30, Pall Mall, in the city centre.

If given the go ahead, the new offices will be the largest office development of its kind in Liverpool, and work is hoped to begin by the end of 2009. Two office buildings, a covered courtyard, retail outlets, coffee shops and restaurants are included in the plans. This will be the latest of several commercial and residential projects, West Bay Capital have already completed in London, Belfast and Dublin. The company are hopeful their offices will be preferred over that of other office space proposals, with regards to the latest relocation of 2500 Ministry of Justice staff. West Bay MD, Ashley Moore, stated the project was the only one of its kind in Liverpool’s commercial quarter, to meet the needs of the government contract, in terms of space and the potential phasing of the relocation”.
